Marketing / Pre-Sales / Reviews
Marketing should begin long before your book is completely written. Post
blurbs and social media updates about how the work is going and what
readers can expect.
A well-planned, concerted effort should be made just prior to and during
the book release period to gain ARC (Advanced Review Copy) and
editorial reviews. Reviews sell books. Advances can be made to
booksellers, librarians, journalists, celebrities, or others, or as a contest
or school prize, before the book is printed for mass distribution.

Experience tells us that the short answer is “absolutely YES, you must
have an author website.” It’s your public face, your ‘Main St. store front.’
A display of your personal brand is essential for stand-out sales.
You’ll also want an on-line Author Store to showcase your book(s).
Additionally, consider book-related merchandise like t-shirts, coffee
mugs, book-markers, etc. Your web presence may include any/or all of
the following:
Publishing & Distribution
Based on genre and market demographics, each book is different.
Your publishing and distribution evaluation should include consideration
of your overall marketing strategy. Will you be making public
appearances, hosting book signings, offering give-aways?
Consider your costs for:
• Hardcovers • Paperbacks • POD (Print On Demand) • eBooks
• An Imprint • ISBN Numbers
